IGNOU MA English Admission 2024
The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers IGNOU MA English Admission in both January and July sessions.
The MA English admission in IGNOU for January 2024 session has been started now.
The IGNOU Master’s Degree in English (MEG) program provide the students a good knowledge of English and American literature as well as other new areas in literature, for instance, Canadian, Australian and Indian English.

An excellent knowledge of reading, comprehension, and writing capabilities are pre-requisite for this particular program. This is a 64-credit program and it has a 2-tier structure: five mandatory core courses and three optional courses.
The students applying for IGNOU MA English admission in any of January or July academic cycle has to pass out 64 credits to complete their master degree.

IGNOU MA English Online Admission
For student’s convenience, the Indira Gandhi National Open University has updated its admission system to include online admission process in it. Now, the students can directly visit the university official website at https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/ to apply for IGNOU MA English admission Online 2024. The learners can download the Student Handbook & Prospectus from the official website.
Before applying for admission, we advise students to read out prospectus carefully and know about the programme you are going to apply for. They have to register themselves on IGNOU Online admission portal before filling up the application form.
The candidates who choose online admission procedure has to upload their photograph, signature, and required documents at admission portal under their user account after getting logged in.
IGNOU MA English Programme Details
- Admission Eligibility: The learners seeking IGNOU MA English admission must possess Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree from a recognized or acknowledged University.
- Programme Duration:
- Minimum: 2 years
- Maximum: 4 years
- Programme Fee: Rs. 14,000/-. It has to paid year-wise @Rs.7000/- each. Addition to this, the students has to pay Rs.300/- as registration fee. (Note: The total fee may vary with the fee mentioned on our website. So, please contact your nearest IGNOU Regional Centre for updated fee details.)
- Age Limit: There is no minimum or maximum age limit to apply for admission to IGNOU MA English programme.

IGNOU MA English Admission Procedure
Earlier, the learners had the privilege to apply for IGNOU MA English admission by offline or online method. But now only the online application is accepted for admission in MEG programme.The offline admission is closed. However, We have provided the details about Ignou MA English admission by offline method.
IGNOU MA English Admission (Offline)

In this method of admission, the students have to visit their nearest IGNOU Regional Centre and obtain the printed copy of the prospectus. To obtain IGNOU Prospectus, the applicant has to pay a sum of Rs.200/- in cash at the sales counter in the regional centre. They can also request the prospectus via post as well.
For this, the students have to send a Demand Draft(DD) of Rs.250/- in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open College, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68. Please mention your Name and Phone number at the back of DD. They can also download the soft copy of it from university official website as well as mentioned above.
The prospectus includes all the required information related to the programme and also the various forms as well. The student can cut out IGNOU MA Philosophy Admission form from it to apply for Master Degree in philosophy.
It is the common admission form for all the programmes. So, the students can use the same form to apply for admission to any programme. Please read out the instructions carefully before filling up the form.
After filling up admission form, the students has to submit it to nearest regional centre along with required documents.
IGNOU MA English Study Material
The Indira Gandhi National Open University sends the study material and assignment booklet to students via registered post at the address prescribed by students on the admission form.
It should be noted that the IGNOU MA English study material send by the university is course-wise and books related to each course is dispatched in one package.
In case, if the student does not receive the study material and assignments booklet on the address specified for any reason whatsoever, the University shall not be held responsible for that.

IGNOU MA English Assignments
The students can also download the soft copy of IGNOU MA English assignments from university website at www.ignou.ac.in. They can also obtain the hard copy of it from the Study Centre or Regional Centre.
The IGNOU Study Material can also be downloaded from university dedicated website for study material i.e. at http://www.egyankosh.ac.in.
