IGNOU PG Diploma in a Development Communication

A new postgraduate (PG) diploma in development communication has been launched by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (PGDDC). The university’s School of Journalism and New Media Studies will provide the curriculum. The program has a one-year duration. Online applications are available at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

Programme Coordinator

Post Graduate Diploma(Development Communication), PGDDC will assist you with gaining academic and professional expertise. You will gain a solid understanding of the key issues in the development process, which will help you find work in a variety of local, national, and international organisations.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any field are eligible to apply. The course charge is Rs 5000 and must be paid in one lump sum.

Human development and communication, media in development communication, development journalism for social change, and development: information and communication technologies are all part of the program. Students can also pick between research methodologies in development communication project work and project workbook as an elective course.

With a focused understanding of the masses, this program attempts to bridge the gaps in the process between planning agencies on the one hand. And all other stakeholders in the development process on the other. The PGDDC will assist students in gaining academic and professional expertise. They will gain a thorough awareness of the development process’s core concerns.

Professor J S Yadav, former Director of the IIMC and a known expert in development communication and research, talked during the postgraduate diploma course about the need for such a program in a developing country like India. He stated that this curriculum is distinctive and inventive and that all students who participate will have many work opportunities.

According to Professor KG Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication Bhopal, the relevance of Development Communication cannot be overstated, and the time for this subject and degree has arrived. He believes that this discipline should be brought to the villages. Students enrolled in this program should focus on the demands of the rural sector so that issues of grass-root development can be treated more seriously and in a systematic manner.

Professor Govind Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, praised IGNOU’s efforts and noted that this program is worldwide in scope, with tremendous job opportunities for many national and international development agencies.

During the program, Professor Satyakam PVC, IGNOU, presented a special message, encouraging the coordinator and School teachers to develop meaningful programs.

During the launch, Dr. Ramesh Yadav, the PGDDC’s coordinator, stated that the program was created in strict accordance with the UGC’s recommended credit scheme and that every effort had been made to meet all academic and professional requirements. He thanked the Academic Council, Planning Board, School Board, academic program committee, and, most importantly, the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support and assistance in the development of this program.

During the launch, Associate Program Coordinator, Professor Pramod Kumar, moderated the conversation, while Director SOJNMS Dr. O. P. Dewal gave the welcome address. Dr. K S Arul Selvan gave the vote of appreciation to all of the specialists and participants.
